Get to know us
At Beyond Adaptive we’re more than a nonprofit—we’re a community built by and for individuals navigating life after a spinal cord injury. Our mission is to empower newly injured individuals by providing a supportive space to connect, share real-life resources, and adapt to a new way of living. Whether you're seeking guidance, inspiration, or just someone who understands, we’re here to walk this path with you. From helping you explore adaptive sports to offering tips for staying strong—both physically and mentally—we’re dedicated to helping you thrive, not just survive. We also take individuals to sporting events to experience firsthand what ADA accessibility looks like in real-world settings for wheelchair users, and to connect with others—like Jackson, who has been living with a spinal cord injury since 2017 and brings a wealth of insight, strength, and encouragement to the community. Together, we rise.

Our mission
Our mission is to empower individuals with spinal cord injuries to live their best, most fulfilling lives. We believe that no one should have to face this journey alone. Jackson, who lives with a spinal cord injury, knows firsthand how overwhelming and isolating the early stages can be. He started this nonprofit with a simple but powerful goal: to create the kind of support system he wishes he had—one filled with connection, guidance, and hope. Through community engagement, access to adaptive sports, and valuable physical and mental health resources, we aim to ease the process of rebuilding and redefining life after injury.
Our vision
We envision a future where every individual with a spinal cord injury has access to the tools, resources, and support they need to thrive—no matter where they live. As we grow, our goal is to expand our reach nationwide, funding adaptive equipment, offering life-enhancing programs, and building a strong network of community support. We see a world where barriers are replaced with opportunities, and where no one has to navigate this journey alone. Together, we’re creating a future filled with hope, possibility, and independence for all.

From a young age, Jackson has always been fearless and adventurous. Just one day into his new high school in Houston, he insisted on taking the bus to start making friends on his own. That independent spirit only grew stronger after his injury. Less than a year into recovery, Jackson returned to work, and by 18, he was living independently, juggling multiple jobs while attending college full-time.
He has transformed adversity into motivation—not only reclaiming his own life but also lifting others along the way. After discovering adaptive sports, especially monoskiing, Jackson found a renewed sense of purpose and community. The sport sparked a passion that reignited the light in his eyes—so much so that he now aims to become a ski instructor and compete nationally. More than just a hobby, skiing has become the vehicle through which Jackson reconnects with the outdoors he has always loved and finds belonging among others who share his journey.
But Jackson’s vision goes beyond personal achievement. He is now co-founding a nonprofit dedicated to supporting others with spinal cord injuries by providing resources, promoting adaptive sports, and creating community—something he lacked during the early years of his recovery. With a full-time job at Huntington Bank, online schooling, regular workouts, and launching this nonprofit, Jackson’s dedication is unwavering.
Those closest to him are constantly inspired by his optimism, focus, and unshakable determination. His story reminds us that even in life’s most challenging moments, there is still joy, purpose, and growth. Jackson is not just overcoming—he’s leading the way for others to do the same.
Meet Jackson
Jackson is our co-founder and is the definition of an overcomer—a resilient, passionate, and deeply driven young man who refuses to let anything stand in the way of living a full and purpose-filled life. At 16, Jackson’s world changed when a car accident left him a paraplegic. But rather than allowing the injury to define him, he chose to grow through it—with courage, humility, and a light that continues to inspire everyone around him.
